Sometimes it’s awfully handy to help a struggling mobile user by simply running his phone for him for a bit. Samsung actually allows remote support software to control their Android devices. Occasionally I need to remotely control Android phones. And in the service business, time is money. Many people I support remotely are not that computer-savvy, and having to lead them through a complicated connection process is frustrating - not to mention, time-wasting. I wanted to run my remote support software on my own server. The cloud has its place, to be sure but in my opinion the race to the cloud is getting completely out of hand. I am not a fan of the way so many services are moving to the cloud. Basically, I had the following wish list: I had some criteria in mind, however, which helped to narrow the selection pool considerably. There seem to be dozens of remote support software options, and choosing one was difficult. So, the search for alternatives began in earnest. But it didn’t take me long to decide I simply was not going to pay $650 every year for the privilege of keeping my license up to date. But with version 11, as host I can not control clients running version 12 (and now, 13). I can control client computers running 11, 10, 9, 8… and so on. In other words, if I’m running version 11, I can control anyone running any version of TeamViewer up to version 11 but no newer than that. ![]() Note that the way TeamViewer is set up, a host can control a client running any version of software equal to or less than the version of the host. But the TeamViewer software has a sly way of popping up a banner notifying users that a new version is available, and the upgrade process is easy… so of course, as time went on more and more clients no longer used version 11. For some time this still worked fairly well, because many of my clients still had version 11. For “just $639,” as I recall, I could upgrade my commercial license to version 12! Well, I still wasn’t quite over the sticker shock of what I’d paid them about a year prior, and refused to bite. About a year later, TeamViewer 12 came out and I started getting “special upgrade offers” in my inbox. ![]() And then there were updatesĪs promised, we got the TeamViewer 11 upgrade for free and all was well. So I jumped in and (somewhat unwillingly) paid TeamViewer about $1,300.00 CAD. The cheapest license, which as I recall was in the neighbourhood of $650 or so, wouldn’t work for me because that only would have allowed me to install on just one of my computers because of the way I worked, and the fact that I worked at home part-time and in another office (book-keeping job) part time, I had to be able to support customers from any computer I happened to be in front of. So I bought a license for TeamViewer 10, with a free upgrade to the upcoming TeamViewer 11, which was to be released within about a month. This is to be expected, because the personal version is not to be used commercially and it was inevitable that we’d have to purchase a commercial license eventually. This arrangement worked for a time, but then the TeamViewer software on my computer figured out that I was spending considerable time controlling quite a number of unique client computers… and began throwing up warnings that I was using it for commercial use and would have to pay to keep using it. I chose TeamViewer simply because I was familiar with it (who isn’t?), and it works well. Our business budget was small, and I started out with the free version. When CareTech was just beginning and our office was a corner of our living room (yes, my dear wife patiently put up with that mess, bless her!), I started using TeamViewer for our remote support needs. ![]() Official TeamViewer pricing as of February, 2018. ![]() 11/13/2023 0 Comments Chevy 400 transmission![]() Checker Motors Corporation used the Chevrolet version of the THM400 for its "A" series taxi and Marathon models until the end of production in 1982.īy 1980, the relatively heavy THM400 was being phased out of usage in passenger cars in response to demand for improved fuel economy. The switch pitch is not the only THM400 that utilizes an external 2 prong connector. This transmission (among other THMs) is identified by the "Park R N D L2 L1" selector quadrant. GM used a Switch Pitch torque converter in the Buick twin turbine Dynaflow transmission between 1955–1963 and the Super Turbine 300 two speed transmissions used by Oldsmobile, Pontiac (Pontiac's ST300 didn't have a switch pitch), and Buick divisions between 19. Stress fractures at the base of the fifth metatarsal deserve special attention. Stress Fractures of the Fifth Metatarsal Base ![]() These fractures can occasionally be more difficult to treat, as some areas of these bones (specifically, the base of the fifth metatarsal) do not receive a large blood supply, which leads to longer healing times. Less commonly, people may have fractures of the fourth and fifth metatarsals, causing pain on the outside of the foot. These fractures typically cause generalized pain in the middle of the foot. People who have a larger second metatarsal bone are also at risk. Therefore, ballet dancers are at particularly high risk of developing these injuries. This is the area of greatest impact on your foot when you push off to walk or run. The second and third metatarsals of the foot, which are thinner (and often longer) than the adjacent first metatarsal, are most prone to stress fractures. The most common sites for stress fractures in the foot are the metatarsal bones. They are also often seen in the calcaneus (heel) fibula (the outer bone of the lower leg and ankle) talus (the lower bone in the ankle joint) sesamoids (two small bones associated with the tendons of the big toe and the navicular (a bone on the top of the midfoot). Stress fractures in the foot and ankle occur are most common in the metatarsal bones. As a result, the bone weakens and becomes vulnerable to stress fractures. With too much activity, the breakdown of older bone can occur rapidly and outpaces the body's ability to repair and replace it. New bone develops and replaces older bone. Overuse stress fractures occur when an athletic movement is repeated so often that weight-bearing bones and support muscles do not have enough time to heal between exercise sessions.īone is in a constant state of turnover - a process called remodeling. The repetitive force that causes a stress fracture is not great enough to cause an acute fracture - such as a broken leg caused by a fall or crash. They occur over time when repetitive forces result in microscopic damage to the bone. ![]() Many stress fractures are overuse injuries. Should a complete fracture occur, it will take far longer to recover and return to activities. Returning to activity too quickly can not only delay the healing process but also increase the risk of a complete fracture. Temporarily refraining from high impact activities is key to recovering from a stress fracture in the foot or ankle. The weight-bearing bones of the foot and lower leg are especially vulnerable to stress fractures because of the repetitive forces they must absorb during activities like walking, running, and jumping. In addition, if osteoporosis or other disease has weakened the bones, just doing everyday activities may result in a stress fracture. Stress fractures sometimes occur when people change their activities - such as trying a new exercise, suddenly increasing the intensity of their workouts, or changing workout surfaces (jogging on a treadmill vs. You also typically experience point tenderness at the site of the fracture. ![]() Pain from stress fractures usually develops gradually and is worse during weight-bearing activities.
